Thank You Stephen Harper

Went grocery shopping yesterday, and did you know that meat just tastes funny, when it’s expired, but hey not to worry, it isn’t bad.  Course neither were the dipping sauces just recalled by Safeway.

Oh, and hey, let’s not forget all that bad meat from Maple Leaf Foods, that was recalled, but still KILLED over twenty people.

And why all the recalls?

‘cuz Stephen Harper thinks that it is okay for industry to regulate itself, and that they won’t cut corners on safety.  Uh huh, and there are Weapons of Mass Destruction still hidden in Iraq.

Last month, I bought some sauce from Safeway. Today, after having used nearly half of the bottle, I checked the ‘best buy date’ and found that it expired April 2011.   I bought the damn shit in July.

Few weeks ago the wife wanted some specialty cheese, which we bought at Fairways.  It had expired as of June 2011.  Nor was that the only package of expired cheese, but an entire case filled with EXPIRED cheese.  Hell, it wasn’t even discounted, but at regular price.

Until Stephen Harper and his Conservative Morons took office, you didn’t have anywhere near the recalls, nor did we have grocery chains selling expired food.  NOT EVEN AT A DISCOUNT!

I suppose, that our health doesn’t really matter. I mean we are just slaves for the Mega Corporations, that have BOUGHT & PAID FOR a Government.  After all, Stephen Harper doesn’t have to buy food at a grocery store.

What the Conservatives don’t understand, is that if we are sick from food poisoning, well, we can’t be out there working at our minimum wage jobs, or buying all that expensive crap, that passes for new and improved.

Course it also means that our Health System becomes overwhelmed, even more so, but hey, that’s okay. After all Stephen Harper and his minions all have PRIVATE HEALTH CARE

20 Cents a Liter because…

Last night we were dreaming, had to be, as gas had dropped to a $1.11.9 a liter for regular gas. I mean come on, it had to be a dream right?

And today the dream was busted, as gas is now sitting at $1.31.9 a liter.

So wtf happened in the last 24 hours that had gas take a twenty cent a liter hike? I mean it isn’t like the weather has been summerish, though today was warm, though a bit cloudy.

Seems like the Oil Industry is just playing with us, showing us who is really boss. It sure as hell isn’t us, even though WE OWN the gas. I mean Canada doesn’t import oil, so that makes it ours, and what is our little Dictator doing about it?

Nothing of course, as the Market will sort itself out.

Problem with all this market bullshit, is that it isn’t consumers that are driving the market, but a select bunch of greedy pigs, who simply want to buy another multi million dollar home that they might live in for a week out of every two years.

It no longer is about costs, about anything but pure greed.

We have become a world consumed by the need for money, at any cost, including the welfare of nations. The poor will continue to get poorer, the super wealthy will continue to become obese on the money we are forced to pay them. Food is up, housing is up, and it is no longer possible for many to even think of owning their own home, thanks to the greed of a select few.

A select few who through their campaign contributions bought themselves a government.  And to those who voted for Herr Harper, hope you are happy, course your retirement is about to go bye bye, because you won’t be able to afford to stop working. Nor will you be able to afford to reach a ripe old age, as you just won’t be able to afford to buy food, or house yourself, or pay for medicines.

But hey, not to worry, there will be some rich cat who might let you root around in his garbage.

Job Statistics are Funny unless you are Unemployed

Comments Off

If you have a weird sense of humor, aren’t unemployed or working at what is called a menial job, the stats on employment can be a good laugh, or at least a chuckle.

For example, the number of part time jobs fell while the number of full time jobs rose.

Nice right? Question is, what wages did those jobs deal in? Did the part time drop come in those so called menial jobs?  Did the bulk of the increased new jobs come in the high paying category, or where they also in menial jobs?

If you read the brief info, well it seems that once again the Hospitality Industry (flipping burgers at A&W) led the pack in new jobs.  Doesn’t say much else, though it did say Construction had some nice gains.  Course, construction jobs cover all ranges of the pay scale. Where those increases in ‘gophers’ or in trades people?

We have Stevie touting how he’s brought us out of a recession, yet how many are now living on less income?  After all, when your EI Benefits run out, you are now considered ‘working’.

It can be very simple really. Why not simply list the amount of jobs right now, at various pay rates. Then count how those change.  If we have 100 people working at $8 to $10, if we have 100 people at $10 to $15, if we have another 100 at $15 to $20, etc.  we will know exactly where the jobs are at.

Does it really matter what industry they are in? Shouldn’t it really be at what level of earning they are at, that determines whether or not we have an economic growth, or downturn?

Swine Flue & Conspiracy Theory

Comments Off

You have to love how some, fall for the concept that everything that happens today, is a conspiracy. The hype for the Swine Flu being just one of those incidents, where many will believe it is a conspiracy. Now, frankly, I don’t put much stock into that, instead I think it is something that Government, Media, & Business latched onto, as mere opportunists.

The spread of this flu, is not being sustained anywhere, but in North America. Like that is a surprise? How many people from Russia or Brazil or Viet Nam get to travel to sunny Mexico? So uh, kind of would guess that it wouldn’t sustain itself, like up here in North America. I mean come on, between all those illegal immirants, the migrant farm workers, and vacationers, is it a surprise we have more cases being reported here?

The World Health Organization said Saturday the virus responsible for the swine flu outbreak among humans doesn’t appear to be spreading outside of North America, but cautioned that a pandemic still can’t be ruled out. ( source – CBC News )

While Governments rush to buy up vaccines, people are rushing out to stock up on masks, antiseptic soap, and all those other little sundries, to try and protect themselves. The Media hypes it up with lurid details and dire warnings, reminding people of the great flu epidemics of the early years.

Drug companies rush to push their products, and some drug stores and others, have displays of soaps & stuffs, for people to wash their hands, when shopping, along with how you can buy the stuff down aisle 9.

In other words, we all are duped and begin to forget, for the moment, how inept our Governments are in dealing with the economic crisis, with health care, with education. Instead we applaud how they are dealing coolly with an impending health crisis, and don’t even question the expenditure of billions of dollars.

The media, gets more advertising, and the drug companies get a quick influx of needed cash. Of course, the consumr winds up spending more money on useless goods, under the belief that it will help ward off the killer swine flu.  Money better used to buy food, pay rent or mortgages, or hell, just get gas for the gas guzzler Detroit foisted on them.

Is it a conspiracy, no just a feeding frenzy by some hungry sharks, looking for a quick snack.

If the risk was truly as great, as WHO suggests, then why isn’t the National Guard lined up across the US – Mexican border, insuring no infected persons are coming across?  I mean, think about it, the risk of infection is going to come more from those who sneak across, than those who legally cross over, but you don’t see the Border Patrol being beefed up, just the stockpile of vaccines.

If the risk was really that huge, why are flights to and from Mexico going on unabated, and why isn’t there a health worker stationed at every gate and walkway, checking passengers coming from Mexico?

If this was a real risk, an epidemic being passed from human to human, then visitors from abroad would be at risk, as they come into contact with us North Americans, and yet the flu isn’t spreading there, just here.

Is it a conspiracy, I really doubt it. It is just a typical example of how greed, and how our society has become opportunist, rather than humane. It isn’t about getting sick, about real risk of infection, it is about making a buck, when opportunity strikes.

That isn’t a conspiracy, that is just plain old fashioned, greed.
