Riots and Falling Stocks and Debts

Comments Off

The Animal Kingdom hunts for food, not for sport, yet Humans, part of the Animal Kingdom, alleged to be the dominant animal of the Kingdom, does just that.  Worse, we also seem hell bent on self destruction.

Like what the fuck is up with the riots in England?  It was France not long ago and it makes you wonder, what is happening to our youth that makes them plan ahead, thanks to the wonder of every kid needs a blackberry or iPhone, to go out and do wanton destruction.

Let’s not forget the pinstriped suits who run our Financial Markets either. I mean come on, let’s just go borrow more cash, and everything will be fine.  Course who is gonna pay for all that borrowing? Sure as fuck isn’t going to be those pinstripe suits, or the uber rich, now is it?

I wonder, if perhaps the Media didn’t help facilitate the entire downslide of the DOW and TSX on Monday? I mean all weekend long they kept harping on how serious the downgrading of the US credit rating was, and perhaps, that got a lot of little people scared? Maybe that is why there was a huge sell off, and today, well the greedy and opportunists started buying up those lower stocks. All because people got scared, needlessly.

The issue of the debt hasn’t been solved, buy hey we got some new millionaires, some new paupers. All because the Media played it up, so they could get some added ratings. Which in turn means they can charge advertisers more. Hey, guess who is the big winner? The Elite and the Media.

Think the riots in England aren’t also fueled by the Media?

After all, who fanned the flames initially with the shooting of that man, but the media. They played right into it, bringing up issues that were buried, and rekindled old hatreds. So why shouldn’t the little punks go out on a looting spree? The media said they would, even gave them a trumped up reason, so off they went.

And where is the Government? Well, they got caught napping, because they were busy trying to figure out how to pay for more debt, created by stupid economic policies by so called experts, whose only goal was to feather their own nest.

Ever notice how all these Media & Financial Experts are wage earners too? Like uh, if they are so smart about how the markets work, how come they aren’t right up there in the Fortune 100?

Simple, they KNOW SHIT !

As for the punks, maybe it’s time to start demanding some accountability from all who have kids. Instead of blaming video games, that these parents have bought for their brats, instead of blaming tough economics, while giving their kids expensive sneakers and cell phones, we should start forcing parents, TO BE PARENTS.

Oh I can see the hail storm of outrage coming, but you know, isn’t it time we all, myself included, started taking responsibility for our actions, instead of pointing the finger of blame everywhere else?

We might be surprised at how well things might go, if we just stopped blaming everyone else, and stood up and said.  It’s My Fault.

Statehood for Palestine

Our Prime Minister doesn’t accept the push by the Palestinians for Statehood, as do many others.  Yet, ya know, I don’t think it is such a bad idea.  ( and that is from a Jew, and supporter of Israel )

I mean think about it. The biggest gripe is just that. They are displaced, in a sort of limbo, because they aren’t a nation. Israel was like that after WWII, and granted, it’s a bit different. No one, is trying to exterminate them, though they seem to have that notion.

And yes, they support terrorism, as we call it, but as a State, they also would gain more obligations, to end that sort of thing. It would make it less volatile and force them to address the issue, than ignore it, as they do now. It would also force them to begin to look after their own people, instead of keeping them in poverty.

It also would shift the Public Relations nightmare, that Israel is losing. With them being a nation, the rocket attacks would have to stop, or they would lose support from the mainstream Arab states. It just makes more sense, to give them Statehood, than it does to deny it.

They may oppose Israel’s existence, but then so does Iran. Thing is, because Iran is a state, it is a lot harder for them to openly try and destroy Israel.  That could happen with a Palestinian state too. I mean right now isn’t working, and the people in Palestine, are being stirred up, under the guise of fighting for freedom.

With Statehood, it may indeed alter the balance, and lessen the amount of terrorism happening today, against Israel.  I don’t like Hamas, and its blind view of killing every Jew, but then look at the Government of North Korea and Iran. They are just as bad, and hell, what about the many despots in charge of other countries today?  Rwanda comes to mind, and Uganda, so how are they any different than Hamas?

With Statehood, Hamas would be forced to deal with their own economy, would need to work towards finding food and employment for its citizens, instead of spending every dollar they can on rockets and guns. It is a poor region, but it Statehood would remove Israel from being labeled as the source of that poverty, of the ills of that country. It would fall onto the Government, which in this case, is Hamas.

Harper Recognizes Libyan Rebels as Government

Comments Off

So, perhaps Mr. Harper can explain why a group of rebels, who know one knows a damn thing about, is suddenly more acceptable as the Libyan Government, than the current dictator?

Obviously, the Rebels do not have the full support of the Libyan People, or Ghadafi would be gone by now.  And just who are their leaders? What is their claim to being the representatives of the Libyan People?

Maybe we should stop throwing our weight around. Can anyone recall the PQ and all the Separatism talk back in the 70’s, 80’s, and even 90’s? After all, they were the Government of Quebec, and had a much more legitimate claim to represent the people of Quebec than those now claiming to represent the Libyan people.

How would Mr. Harper have handled that little hot potato, if say the USA decided to recognize the claims of Rene Levesque back then? How would it have been, if say the Referendum had failed in the 90’s?

I am not a fan of Ghadafi, or any dictator, but what exactly gives us the right to say that government doesn’t represent the people of a foreign country, and some other group does?  What about all the turmoil in Yemen, or now in Syria?

Frankly, I am not convinced that this so called group of freedom fighters is anything more than a shill, for the Oil Industry. I do not buy into the fact that they represent the Libyan People, who for some bizarre reason, still support Ghadafi.  Despite all the bombings, all the death, he still seems to command a lot of support, so tell me Mr. Harper, how does this bring about an end to the conflict?

Does it not simply prolong it, set the stage for ground troops?

And have we not had enough war, enough death of Canadian Soldiers? Are we know embarking on another Middle Eastern Conflict, for some lofty goal, that is in truth, neither lofty, nor legitimate?

Isn’t this just another attempt to secure oil, from a nation that we simply don’t like?   IF this is truly about democracy, why haven’t we invaded North Korea and ended that tyrants rule, or how about Iran? They got lots of oil, are trying to become a nuclear power, surely they are far more dangerous than Libya?

And what about Syria?  How come we aren’t bombing them too?

Conservative Milestone

An interesting date in history, this is when the Iron Lady herself, got elected Prime Minister, and gave Britian its Conservative slant, that eventually led to Tony Blair and his infatuation with George W. Bush.

Ronald Reagan was to become President a year later, putting his stamp on the face of conservatism, and I wonder, would they approve today?

I mean both Thatcher & Reagan believed in smaller government, in free enterprise, where anyone with a dream to become rich, could achieve it through hard work, through perseverance. Government didn’t intrude, and stood side by side with all of its citizens, in protecting the very rights and priveleges that set the free world apart, from those who would destroy them.

Since they stared down the Fundamentalists of Iran, the tyrants in the Falklands, look around. The Republican Conservatives brought to power by Reagan, now hold the record for not only spending, but for violating the very rights, Reagan tried to give the entire world.

Both of them believed in tough government, in the need for people to step up, not government, but they also safeguarded the rights, the laws, to insure that no one could seize control, seize power by trickery, by deceit.

They may have given business tax cuts, tried to eliminate red tape, but they refused to give them carte blanche, that both Bush, Howard, Harper, & Blair have done.

I dont know, I believe in getting as much for my buck, as possible, not just toss it away to some suit who gives a whack of cash to some politician. Yet that is today’s conservatives. Throw my money at those who pissed theirs away, supposedly, without any limits, without any oversight. That isn’t the brand of conservatism that Thatcher & Reagan supported.

I wonder, would Thatcher have thought it possible that todays real villians, aren’t the communists, aren’t the terrorists, or the fundamentalists, but the very corporate entities she supported, helped?

Personally, what we have isn’t Free Enterprise, isn’t supporting the market stystem, that Thatcher & Reagan believed in. Today’s Corporate Entities, are the real enemy of the world. It isn’t the Terrorists, it isn’t the rise of Communism, it is the greed of these new world masters, the Corporate Board.

Not really what I think Thatcher had in mind, when she first became Prime Minister.

Torture Okay for Regular Church Goers

Comments Off

Now this is something, you would not expect, least you shouldn’t.

Seriously, a survey claims that the more people go to church, the more they are likely to support torture as a means of being protected. And, yep, the Evangelical crowd are at the top of the list, where about 6 out of 10 support the use of torture against ‘suspected terrorists‘.

White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified — more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did. ( source – CNN News )

Those who believe in GOD, should be the last to support such tactics. Those who attend the most, should know the most, about how torture is wrong, and violates God’s own principles, and yet here they are, in support of it.

Now being Jewish, I have been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty stuff, and it appalls me that anyone, who believes in GOD, can support the use of Torture. All those Christians, that called me Murder, because they believed it was the Jews who crucified Christ, when it wasn’t.

And now, these are the same folks who believe that I am not entitled to my civil rights, because I am different, and also the majority support the use of torture, or at least believe it is justified?

When is doing something wrong, ever right?

Christ died on the Cross, the story goes, after BEING TORTURED! So how in hell, can anyone who follows his faith, wish such pain, such inhumanity, on another, simply to feel safer?

And no, there is no ‘good‘ torture. I mean come on, that argument is so bogus, so full of BS, that is laughable, or would be, if it wasn’t the constant explanation from President George W. Bush and his minions. But then, should that surprise anyone, given it was the Evangelical’s who got him elected in the first place?

I mean, to each their own. Really, if some Church believes I am evil for being gay, fine, if some Church believes Jews will wander for eternity for Crucifying Christ, hey, that is fine. What isn’t fine, is to push that crap out there, on everyone else. Which is exactly what they do, and I may not know scripture like they do, but I know this.

Torture is what barbarians do, not civilized human beings, who believe in God.

So for me, reading that report, doesn’t shock me, or suprise me. See, I already know, that they really don’t believe in God, least not the God that created the earth, or mankind. They believe in Bal, the fake God, who promises them riches, and allows them to steal, to cheat, to lie, to murder, as long as it isn’t against their fellow believers in Bal.  That is what these who support torture, who believe it is justifiable, are, followers of a false God, because the True Father, is just that.

A Father.
