Thank You Stephen Harper

Went grocery shopping yesterday, and did you know that meat just tastes funny, when it’s expired, but hey not to worry, it isn’t bad.  Course neither were the dipping sauces just recalled by Safeway.

Oh, and hey, let’s not forget all that bad meat from Maple Leaf Foods, that was recalled, but still KILLED over twenty people.

And why all the recalls?

‘cuz Stephen Harper thinks that it is okay for industry to regulate itself, and that they won’t cut corners on safety.  Uh huh, and there are Weapons of Mass Destruction still hidden in Iraq.

Last month, I bought some sauce from Safeway. Today, after having used nearly half of the bottle, I checked the ‘best buy date’ and found that it expired April 2011.   I bought the damn shit in July.

Few weeks ago the wife wanted some specialty cheese, which we bought at Fairways.  It had expired as of June 2011.  Nor was that the only package of expired cheese, but an entire case filled with EXPIRED cheese.  Hell, it wasn’t even discounted, but at regular price.

Until Stephen Harper and his Conservative Morons took office, you didn’t have anywhere near the recalls, nor did we have grocery chains selling expired food.  NOT EVEN AT A DISCOUNT!

I suppose, that our health doesn’t really matter. I mean we are just slaves for the Mega Corporations, that have BOUGHT & PAID FOR a Government.  After all, Stephen Harper doesn’t have to buy food at a grocery store.

What the Conservatives don’t understand, is that if we are sick from food poisoning, well, we can’t be out there working at our minimum wage jobs, or buying all that expensive crap, that passes for new and improved.

Course it also means that our Health System becomes overwhelmed, even more so, but hey, that’s okay. After all Stephen Harper and his minions all have PRIVATE HEALTH CARE

Turmel’s Bloc Membership, So What.

Comments Off

Don’t we have better things to be dealing with, than worrying about what memberships an INTERIM leader had in her past?   Really, with the growing debt load, the slowing economy, and our lack of International Respect are just a couple off the top of my head, that should be more of a priority, than whether or not NDP Interim Leader Turmel had membership in the Bloc.

Funny, we can accept and support people who are racists, like Vic Toews of the Conservatives, or how about their illustrious leader of the past, Stockwell Day and Preston Manning?  Funny how they can be forgiven, even revered for their racist views, while someone who once held a Bloc membership is vilified.

  • Vic Toews with his speech calling Homosexuals vile, evil, was objected to by many, but not our Prime Minister, who in fact defended Mr Toews. Hell he’s rewarded him by making him a Cabinet Minister.
  • Stockwell Day a gun nut, who thinks everyone, including ten and eleven year old children should have access to firearms. Not only that, but he also believes that Jews will wander for eternity for crucifying Christ.

Yet Turmel had a membership in a Separatist group, that has come close to actually being the Official Opposition in Parliament, is vilified. Go figure, but you know, I’d have voted for Gilles Duceppe if I’d had a chance.

Does that make me want to break up Canada?  NO!

It simply makes me appreciate a plain speaking, honest politician, unlike the current one sitting at Sussex Drive.  Maybe we should worry more about that, than what kind of membership someone once held.

After all, isn’t that the same criteria we used to incarcerate thousands of Japanese Descent Canadian Citizens into internment camps, during WWII?   Took a long time to officially apologize for that bullshit, but here we are, using the same mentality again.

Quilt by Association.

Tax Cuts, Spending Limits Raised, We Still Poor

Comments Off

Call me stupid, call me old fashioned, call me politically incorrect, but after watching all the budget bullshit unfold across the border, after going shopping, there is nothing that says to me that we are anywhere on track to easing the cost of living, or in helping those who need help the most.

In fact, I’d say we are heading for an economic meltdown, thanks in large part, to the bullshit mantra of Conservatives, who think that if we give tax breaks to Big Business, tax cuts to the rich, that it will all trickle down and make us poor folk ( once called the Middle Class ) a bit better off.

Let us be honest for a frigging change.

  • The more we owe, the more it costs us to pay it back.
  • The more we borrow, the longer it will take to pay it off.
  • The more we cut in social programs, the more civil unrest we’ll have.
  • The more we give the rich, in tax cuts and benefits, the more our social programs will become watered down, and ineffective.
  • The more we borrow, the higher debt load we carry, as a nation, the further erosion we do to our Freedom and basic civil rights.
  • The less we save, the more we will depend on social programs like Canada Pension for our retirement.
  • The less money we have, the less we can save.
  • The less disposable income we have, the less taxes we pay, that in turn leads to less revenue for our social programs, like education, health, and welfare.
  • The less effective our social programs, the greater the disparity we have between the poor and the rich.
  • When the majority can no longer afford big ticket items, business will fail, and a revolution will happen.

Sounds a bit melodramatic, but look at history. The French Revolution happened not because France was poor, but because the gap between the common folk and the aristocrats was too wide. There was no MIDDLE CLASS that could act as a buffer.

Consider the Russian Revolution, where it was much the same. Hell, look at any real revolution ( not the American one, as that wasn’t about freedom, but about maintaining slavery ) and you’ll see it is due to the wide gap between the Elite and the Common Citizen.

Our system is driving people into desperate acts. When people can’t afford food and shelter, or are sold a dream of earning big money, but those dreams are constantly dashed, well, the result is usually violence. It is human nature I suppose, but honestly, we are failing ourselves, when we buy into the Conservative mantra of tax cuts and the trickle down theory.

People who can sustain our economy, are being gutted by the tax cuts for the elite. It is they who pay for those tax cuts, with having to work longer, harder, just to keep the same pay check. Yet income for the rich has risen dramatically, and the benefit to the nation?  NOTHING!

Mail Strike Over, for now

Comments Off

Canada Post has said that mail delivery will resume on Tuesday, now that both Parliament and the Senate have passed back to work legislation.  Binding arbitration is forced on both parties, in this bill, but the Government didn’t allow one single amendment to be added, or passed.

Course, the real issue for me, was that why did we even have to have this strike? Okay, the union started it by going out on their rotating strikes, that frankly, were nothing but a minor inconvenience. It was Canada Post ( Harper’s in other words ) that sent the strike national, and stopped mail delivery everywhere.

Note to all those Whiners : The entire debacle of no mail, was by design, by Herr Harper, as a political stunt to make his majority government look competent. He needed something to shore up all the questioning that has begun.  So before you whining self centered people start blaming the Union & the NDP opposition for dragging this on, keep in mind, it was Harper & Canada Post that stopped national mail deliver, not the Union.

And while we are at it, let’s look at this stupid debate as well. The Government has had, for a long time, the ability to limit debate, and not allow things like this to drag on for long.  Funny thing is, the Harper Conservatives didn’t avail themselves of it, and more than that, a large number of Conservative MPs took their turn in dragging this debate on, to a record 58 hours.

So the question is, how come?

IF the Government truly was interested in ending the strike, why did they force it nationally, to begin with? Secondly, why did they then not act quicker to bring in back to work legislation? Thirdly, why did they add to the lengthy debate, by stuffing it with their own members commenting?

Let’s get real Canada, the truth is Stephen Harper doesn’t give a rat’s ass for us. Canada Post makes a profit, which makes it damn hard for him to sell it off to one of his campaign supporters, so he had to do something, to make it look less profitable.

What better way than have a national strike, get the workers upset and stupid, and then try to pin the blame for not settling the dispute quicker on the NDP Opposition.

Give the Devil ( Stephen Harper ) his due, he is good at strategy, but the problem with that, is it hurts Canada.

Get Your Tin Hats On, We Going to War

Comments Off

Okay, we already are at war, in Afghanistan, and been doing missions over Libya. So I would say that constitutes being at war, seeing as how our men and women are being killed.  And now our illustrious leader, Herr Harper is going to extend our Mission To Libya.

Frankly, while I understood the Afghanistan War, I fail to comprehend the Libyan Fiasco we are in. I honestly don’t see what we have accomplished in Afghanistan in ten years of fighting.  OH WAIT, we did help their economy, I mean back in 2001 they only accounted for about 7% of the world’s heroin supply, and now, they account for OVER 60%.

Nice to know all the drug addicts are getting something out of the loss of life in Afghanistan.

Now we have Libya.  Seems, from what I gather, that a bunch of Libyans have revolted, and like good Democracies, we have rushed in to support them.  First it was with sanctions, then more harsh words, and now air strikes and naval bombardments. We have killed Ghadafi’s son and other family members, which should have taught him a lesson, but gee, he’s a stubborn old geezer, isn’t he?

Quick, can you name the leader of the freedom fighters in Libya? How about his organization’s name?

I missed it all, in the hoopla, but you know, I bet I can hazard a guess.  How does Exxon or Chevron sound?

When did the Western World become the sole decider of what type of government should run other nations? I mean what next, will the USA invade us, because we haven’t killed off all of our Native People? I mean we just keep them in poverty, in horrid living conditions, so how come NATO isn’t dropping bombs on us?

Libya may indeed be run by a real asshole, a real prick, but does that give us the right to interfere? Didn’t happen in 1933, so why now?  Oh wait, Hitler was only killing off Jews, and Ghadafi has lots of oil.  I guess I can see why we have to act in Libya, though why not Rhwanda? the Congo?  Ah, wait, they don’t have oil, and they are colored.

Can we say hypocrits?

Honestly, if we are going to meddle in other countries, then perhaps we should apply that meddling to all dictatorships, not just those who have Oil Reserves?

And that is why Harper is extending our Mission to Libya. His oil buddies need to get their hands on that rich oil reserves, and well, Ghadafi is in the way. So just like the Iraq War, we are now involved in Libya. With a majority, not much we can do either, except get ready to start the body count. Herr Harper won’t be satisfied until our blood runs in the deserts of Libya.

All for the Oil Reserves.   Aren’t you glad you all voted Conservative May 2nd?
