Get Over This Coalition Bullshit

I mean honestly, Stephen, isn’t it time you stop whining about an imaginery coalition threat by the Liberals, NDP, & Bloc?

Should YOU be focusing on winning the election on your platform, instead of creating nothing but fear? How about, for once in your political life, you stood up and started telling the truth, instead of fabricating nonsense?

It really pisses me off, at how much you spin things. I mean come on, you tried to form a government in 2004, had the Liberals been defeated on their budget. It boggles the mind how it was okay for you to avail yourself of that parliamentary rule, but isn’t okay for anyone else. What made it okay for you, but not anyone else? Is there a special Stephen Harper clause we don’t know about?

What are you so afraid of? Is that IF another party gets in, and examines the books, we are going to be amazed at how crooked your whole administration has been? Will be shocked at the excesses you have allowed, under the guise of being an Economist?

Michael Ignatieff & Jack Layton have all said it, time over time, that they are looking to win this election, with a mandate. What was said in the Manbridge interview was based on conjecture, and was about how the rules are set.  YES, the Governor General can asked another party to try and form a government, if a minority government fails.  It has been that way for eons.

That isn’t about some preceived future coalition threat, it is about reality.

Secondly, you DO have to present a budget, IF you get re-elected. As a minority or not, you still need to present a budget.  And it is obvious to everyone, but YOU, that if you are in a minority position, YOU will have to seek support from the other parties, or be defeated on a Non Confidence motion.

That is reality Stephen Harper, so deal with it.  Either Convince Us to give you a majority, or deal with the reality of forming a minority government. Course, you may NOT get that even, one hopes.

So while you bellyache about the Liberals forming some imaginary coalition, what about you?

What will you do, IF the next government is a Minority, but not with you in charge?  WILL YOU defeat the Government on their budget, if they act like your administration has, all arrogant and smug?  Will you send ANOTHER LETTER to the Governor General, telling him that there are other options, should the Minority Government fail?

This election was caused by your unwillingness to negotiate with the other parties in Parliament. All you had to do, was add a paltry half million dollars to Seniors and you’d have had the NDP support, enough to keep on Governing. So who really forced this election?  YOU DID.

SO STOP YOUR DAMN WHINING & GET ON WITH CAMPAIGNING

Oh wait, that is your campaigning isn’t it, non stop whining and fear mongering. Can’t forget about how you love distorting the truth too, as part of your campaign strategy.

So Stephen Harper is upset by the bickering and personal attacks by the Opposition Leaders? I mean really?  Now that is what I call having a lot of gall.

To begin with, who is the one who constantly spends Oil Industry money to buy attack ads, that make very personal attacks on Michael Ignatieff?   Don’t think it is Jack or Gilles, nor is it Elizabeth.

Have seen a sort of attack ad by Ignatieff, but compared to the never ending litany of Conservative Attack Ads, to have the man behind those ads complain about the barrage of questions to him, about his honesty, about his integrity, is rather, well… LAUGHABLE

Stephen Harper for Five Years has bullied the entire country. He has used threats, has used half truths in his ads, has used praise meant for other Parties, and he has the nerve to complain about the Bickering?

What a Joke he is, but God Help Canada if enough people buy into his fear mongering.

It really isn’t what I’d call a great year.  I mean Mom’s health really hasn’t rebounded since the broken wrist, and even the change to a new Doctor hasn’t made significant improvement. Well, shouldn’t say that, because it has, but it is the system we live in, that is defeating us.

Universal Health Care is a good idea, but we, the people, pay it lip service really. YES, there are good people in the Health Area, but unfortunately they are a minority, in number. And it comes from those in Charge.  I mean seriously, we the people, have abdicated our rights, to a select few, whose only goal is to be in power, so they can become multi millionaires.

There is NO desire to SERVE THE PUBLIC, but instead is about SERVING SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS.  Makes little difference which political party one looks at. If you want to insure that RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS & CORPORATE PROFITS take precedence over the rights of all, then VOTE FOR HARPER.     Want to be fuzzy and all warm, but keep SUPPORTING CORPORATE INTERESTS of a different ilk, then well VOTE FOR IGNATIEFF & THE LIBERALS.

Think you’d rather vote for the WORKING STIFF?  One might say then to VOTE NDP however, you have to wonder which working stiff do they support?  Sure isn’t the average blue-collar worker, but more the high earning UNION EXECS.   Then too, Jack Layton keeps telling us how HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION.

Don’t quite get that. How does one vote for second place?

Of course, we do show our disdain, don’t we? I mean look at how less than 50% of the eligible voters in BC chose their current regime?  I mean we got what we voted for, didn’t we? Now come July we get the HARMONIZED SALES TAX RIP OFF, a tax orchestrated by Brian Mulroney, being pushed by Stephen Harper.

SO STAYING HOME SURE WORKED OUT FOR 52% OF THE ELECTORATE, DIDN’T IT?

And that is the trend today. We get idiot leaders who really are nothing more than stooges for vested interests, whether it be the BIG THREE AUTO MAKERS, THE BANKS, or THE UNION EXECS.  Today, there is NO POLITICAL PARTY that supports the rights of the people. You know, the guys and gals who supposed to own this country, who are supposed to be the one’s choosing their Government?  [ well when they get off their fat self-absorbed asses to actually vote ]

Thanks to the Corporate World, in conjunction with the Labour Leadership, we have a Country that is truly THIRD RATE.  Why it is now okay to sell food that is expired, because the store has to recoup its costs, somehow. So what if it means we get sick, stretch the Health System from it? After all, Health Care is now about PROFITS.

No longer do our Political Leaders debate the issues, instead they tell us how bad the other guy, how much we should fear the other guy, while quietly ignoring telling us if they even have a plan to keep our jobs, to improve our economy, or to even keep us safe from terrorism?

AFTER ALL, IT IS EASIER TO MAKE FUN OF A PERSON’S POOR ENGLISH, TO MAKE US FEAR PEOPLE WHO ARE DIFFERENT.  RIGHT Mr. HARPER?

Will we ever return to where our leaders actually gave a damn, about us, and will there ever be a time, when we will actually start caring again, for others, not just ourselves?

Inciting Hate to get Elected

I don’t know if it is deliberate or not, but when a Politician goes down the road of using Attack Politics, made famous by George Bush & the Republicans, they are trading on fear, and hate. Two very powerful emotions, that create a lot of irrational outbursts, and actions. They seriously are treading on very dangerous ground, because I really don’t think you want people voting out of irrational thinking, or do you?

“I think that you know when you have a campaign that’s based on attack, some of your followers feel that can do whatever they want. That’s obviously not acceptable to me, it wouldn’t be acceptable to Ms James or anybody else, I don’t think.” ( source – CBC News )

It is one thing, to point out what you believe is wrong about the other side, but to make it so personal, as many do, it goes across the line, Yet, we seem to keep on buying into that form of campaigning. Do we like to be frightened? Are we so enamored by misery, that we enjoy feeling hate and anger inside, when we think of a political opponent?

Should the issues not be the criteria, we base our vote on?

When you generate hate, instead of support for your policies, how does that help unite your province, state, or country? To me it is divisive, and when faced with serious issues, like we are today, how does making those differences more pronounced, work towards finding a solution?

Compromises aren’t always best, I understand that, but neither is the mantra of  ‘My Way or No Way’.  There are times when one needs to compromise, to get the job done, or at least to move in the right direction. Disagree on how to get to a point, but at least come to an understanding of what that point is.

I concede, it is easier to make people afraid, to make them hate someone or something. The problem with such a course of action, is evident in History, and not that far back either. Many of the wars in Ancient times, were based on hate & fear, that wasn’t even justified. The various religious wars, based on the hate for the other’s beliefs is a prime example, but we don’t have to go that far back.

Adolph Hitler is one who is a perfect example, of how a politician using HATE & ATTACK POLITICS can seize power, and the damage they can do.  By using HATE and clever attack methods, Hitler made the German people his slaves, made them willing accomplices in his desire for power, and as a result TENS OF MILLIONS WERE KILLED.

Not just in the Concentration Camps, but in the war itself, that he created, out of fear, out of hatred. And frankly, it is no different than how George W. Bush got the USA to invade Iraq. It was from FEAR & HATE, that thousands of US Soldiers have died for, as well as THOUSANDS OF IRAQI CIVILIANS.

It all started, because the PEOPLE who had the power, who through their votes, put these people into power, allowed themselves to vote for them, out of hate, out of fear. With HITLER he made the country believe that the Communists & Jews were enemies, that they were responsible for the ills of the country, and as a result, they supported him.

George Bush won re-election & got into Iraq, by convincing the electorate to hate the Terrorists, who were in Iraq, even though none were there. He made them AFRAID, then he made them angry, and made them hate, and the result was nearly unanimous support for invading a sovereign state.

Now we have people shouting that we should shoot or kill a Premier, and yes, its is just one or two fringe elements, but think about it. The rallies that Hitler held, where people were swept up in those emotions, in the beer hall meetings, where Hitler continued his attack, continued to spew his venom, that got people mad, got them angry, and then when he led them out, they blindly followed him into World War II.

IT CAN HAPPEN HERE.

Media Responsibility

Do they have any?

Seriously, you have to wonder if the various media outlets have a single ounce of common sense in their collective heads, the way they sensationalize a topic. Take this Swine Flu hysteria, that is being dragged through the news.

Just how serious is it?

While it appears serious, the question is, is it any more dangerous than the normal flu? After all, according to some statistics, more people die each year from the common flu, than one would expect, which doesn’t make it right, or acceptable. However, it raises the question of why there isn’t more attention paid to that little fact, instead of just when something with a name, gets mentioned?

After all, statistically speaking, they claim some 30,000 die annually from the common flu.  That is a far cry from the lower Swine Flu numbers.

Frankly, I firmly believe that the media MAKES NEWS MORE THAN IT REPORTS NEWS.
