What A Diseaster Last Night Was

Harper got his majority, the one thing I don’t think anyone truly wanted. I honestly cannot believe so many of my Countrymen bought into his lies, his fear mongering. From some sources, they say many Liberals crossed over to the Conservatives, for fear of the NDP, and yet, why fear the NDP?

Others are saying that in Quebec, the Bloc lost because Quebecor’s wanted to give a Federalist party another shot, while the old buggaboo about Sovereignty raised its head, again thanks to Harper’s tactics.

Yet we have a new party, the Green Party in Parliament, so at least come the next debate they’ll be able to attend, or will they?  After all, neither they nor the Bloc are considered actual parties, given the low number of seats they have.  In addition, the Green’s lost a lot of popular votes, as they simply concentrated on getting Elizabeth May a seat.

So strange day today.  Gilles Duceppe is expected to resign ( or may have already ) while Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff has resigned as Liberal Leader.  So here we go on electing new leaders, but which direction with those parties take?

THIS IS what happens when you push people to extremes. Will the Bloc return to being a Separatist Only party, thus perhaps regaining its popularity?  Will the Liberals move further away from its roots, or can it return to what made it the true Ruling Party, by a center of the road approach?

Lots of questions in the coming days, but the bottom line is that we have a Dictator in power, who is determined to make us a slave state for Big Business.  Our Environment, Our Social Programs are now at risk, and who knows, what will be the outcome, if the other parties don’t get their act together, and start being UNAFRAID.

Jack’s Massage Extravaganza

So the latest bullshit, courtesy of the Harper War Machine, is about Jack Layton visiting a massage parlour in 1996.

Yeah, 1996.

Like how desperate can you get, to try and stay as Prime Minister, when you gotta dredge up such bullshit?  So the guy went to a massage parlour, after a workout?  Guess that is something our Stevie Boy wouldn’t do, given how he doesn’t know what it means to actually work out.

But what kind of nonsense is it anyway? I mean the Police questioned him because the place was under suspicion of being a whore house.  So, what, people haven’t walked into a massage parlour before, not knowing it had ‘extras’?

I don’t know who will win tomorrow’s election, I am praying hard it isn’t Harper, because frankly, the longer this man stays in power, the worse this country will become. Already in just five short years, our political process has deteriated to name calling, to wild mud slinging, that just isn’t… well Canadian.

Sure, all parties do it, to a point, but in order to fight fire with fire, their hands get dirty too, because we seem to allow it. WE, the people actually fall prey to the likes of the Harper’s of this world, instead of standing firm in our beliefs, in our ethics.

I hope, that when it comes time to get off our fat asses, and actually go VOTE, that we’ll realize that this is a vote not just about which party sounds best, but a clear choice between FEAR & DICTATORSHIP  versus  COMPASSION & DEMOCRACY.

Any vote for the Harper Conservatives, is a vote for fear, for dictatorship, for greed, and above all else, for selfishness.

Any vote for ANY OF THE OTHER PARTIES, is a REAL VOTE for Democracy, for some compassion in our Government Policies.  IT IS A VOTE FOR PEOPLE NOT BUSINESS.

And that is sad, that our Political system has evolved to that kind of choice. It wasn’t always that way, least not in memory. I truly do pray, that we see the truth, and so come Monday, we clearly show our disgust at Lies, at Deceit, at Greed, at Fear.

The Battle for Your Fear

I guess I am just too old.

Whatever happened to the old type of Politics, that used to be a cornerstone of Canadian Life?  I am old enough, I suppose, to remember a time when we discussed issues, not how bad the other guy was.

Honestly, the political ads were more like this:

Unlike ( Insert Party Name ) & ( Insert Party Name ) we have a different plan, to achieve those goals.  Our VISION is to do ( insert issue ) by doing ( insert details ) unlike our Opponents.

Now it is more like :

We ( insert Party Name ) are the only Party for you.  The Other Parties ( Insert opposing party names here ) are liars, they don’t tell the truth, they are foreigners, and will hurt you. They don’t support ( insert wedge issue here ) like we do.  Vote for Us ( insert party name ).

We are about 8 days from the Election, and I still can’t tell you what ANY of the Political Parties are for.  In any details.  And that is rather a sad state of affairs, given how the Advance Polls opened on Friday.

Instead of being told the differences, we are told how bad the other guy is. I am not supportive of the F-35 jet deal, but only because I DO NOT KNOW THE FIGURES.  I mean:

1. What is the actual cost per plane?
2. Why do we need 65
3. When do they begin to be delivered?
4. How long will they last?
5. Is this the Air Force’s first choice?
6. Does the Plane do what it is promoted as doing, considering, it isn’t even in the air yet?
7. What is our Escape Clause if we find this plane doesn’t do as it is billed to do?

It pisses me off as well, that only the NDP are giving us some alternatives. I mean come on here, just what is it that makes these planes so good? What is the perceived role of our Military that will require these planes, but you know what is as important as whether or not our Military needs them, is:

WHAT BENEFIT DOES IT GIVE CANADIAN BUSINESSES?

Damn, I didn’t want to get into specifics, but then again, it is the specifics that we should have gotten into, long before now. I mean how am I to choose a party to vote for, if I know absolutely nothing about their plans?

Neither Harper, Ignatieff, Layton, or May have told me diddly about the actual plans.

Harper tells me to be afraid of Ignatieff, that he is some foreignor who is here to grab a cushy job. He tells me he’s the only one to keep our economy moving forward, yet prices are going up while high paying jobs are dissappearing.

Ignatieff tells me to be afriad of Harper because the man lies, hides the truth. He says the NDP isn’t good for the economy, because they will spend too much.

Layton tells me to be afraid of Harper because he can’t be trusted, and to be afraid of Ignatieff because Ignatieff is truant.

Elizabeth May tells me to vote for her, because then she can be in all the debates, to stand up for democracy.

So I guess it comes down to, whether I want a Liar, a Truant, a Spendthrift, or a Talker.

Somehow, that just doesn’t seem right, for how to choose the next Prime Minister, now does it?

Thursdays NDP Rally Should Be Fun

I wonder, I had to RSVP on Facebook, so does that mean I’ll be pre-screened to see if I can attend Jack Layton’s Rally in Esquimalt? LOL  Know if I was going to a Harper One I’d not only be blocked from going, but probably get my ass thrown in jail for being a damn Fag & Rabble Rouser.

Hey, what can I say, Stephen Harper don’t like Queers, nor does he like Dissent.

You would think, that for someone who wants a Majority Government, he would be encouraging those who appear to support another party, to come to his rallies. I mean how else do you plan to convince them to vote for you?

Oh right, I forgot, you make them afraid of the other guys, bully them into voting for you instead of actually convincing them you have the best policies.

See, I learned something today.  I learned that standing up to bullies can get you kicked out of political rallies. Being honest and wanting to know about a Parties Policies gets you an invite from the NDP, but might get your ass thrown in jail if its Harper’s Rally.

I am looking forward to Thursday for one major reason. This time around Jack is actually saying he wants to be Prime Minister. Now THAT is a big leap forward for him, & the NDP. So yep, I am gonna go, and who knows, he might erase that one strike he has with me. LOL

Suspicions Over Rights

George W. Bush was very good at it, and he’s taught our Stephen Harper well, on how to use ‘suspicion‘ as a weapon. How to discredit a person, by simply claiming they are ‘suspected of being a terrorist’ so therefore, the Government doesn’t have to follow the Rule of Law, the Constitution, or the Charter of Rights (Bill of Rights). Very much like ADOLPH HITLER DID.

Is that the kind of Democracy we want?

Eight years ago, Democracy took a huge hit. Yes, there was a large loss of life, and it was indeed scary, but time has passed, and the aftermath of the terrorist attack lingers, and is perhaps still a major threat, but it comes from within, not from the caves of Pakistan or Afghanistan.

Governments led by frightened little men, have done more damage to Democracy than any terrorist attack could ever accomplish on its own. It has put people into secret prisons, then into limbo, where their basic human rights have been violated.

These frightened little men have moved heaven and earth, to weaken the rights of the individual, through passing legislation to justify their abuse of power. From the Patriot Acts to the new legislation by Stephen Harper to snoop on Citizens Online,  the attack on Democracy has continued long after the dust has settled on the destroyed Twin Towers in New York City.

And today, many honest people, still spew their irrational hatred for people they know nothing about. Soldiers are still dying in far off lands, fighting an enemy they really don’t know, or understand. It isn’t a war of good versus evil, but one of FEAR.

Bush was frightened by Hussein, and used the terror attacks on NYC to invade. Stephen Harper is using that same fear, to refuse to support Canadian Citizens suspected of being terrorists, based on inuendo, on association, rather than on fact. He continues to assault our rights, to be FREE, because he is frightened of some unknown men, living in a cave somewhere.

When did Canadians & Americans become such frightened creatures?

HITLER tried to conquer a world, through fear, and he almost succeeded, & now men like Bush & Harper are once more living proof, that fear is a terrible weapon in the hands of fools, with power. Like HITLER, they attack the one bastion of hope, that can foil attacks on Democracy, which is the Judicial System. As imperfect as it is, it is the one area of our society than can stop Terrorism, can stop Dictatorships, and is the one area that both Harper & Bush assaulted & ignored.

Bush is gone, but his legacy of hate lives on. Stephen Harper learned well from him, on how to destroy Democracy from within, all in an effort to hold onto power, to keep people frightened of what they don’t understand. That is racism, and the problem is, that today it maybe aimed at Terrorists, but tomorrow it may be aimed at YOU, simply because your nose is bigger than normal, because your last name is hard to pronounce, or your skin color is not white, or you are seen in a Church that is different.

THAT IS RACISM & IT HAPPENS WHEN THE RULE OF LAW IS IGNORED.

Truth is that it is easier to HATE than to understand. Laws exist, but in a real democracy, they are created FOR EVERYONE NOT JUST THOSE IN POWER. A man is accused of being a supporter of Terrorists, based on suspicion, unproven in a court of law. Yet many think he is guilty, all because he is out on bail, all because he is not White, Anglo Saxon, or Protestant.   HOW IS THAT NOT RACISM?

People think the Court is wrong to slap the Government on the wrist for taking advantage of his bail conditions, because after all, he is SUSPECTED OF A CRIME. That alone does NOT make him guilty, and about that. So you subscribe to an ALTERNATIVE PUBLICATION, does that mean you accept all they promote? Does it make you a follower, or just open minded?

The whole concept of Justice, is to determine guilt. It isn’t up to the Government or some nameless official to make that decision, but a Judge & jury. Yet today, it is some nameless civil servant who gets to decide, and the ramifications are dangerous. A man so accused, can be subject to not just incarceration, but for an indefinite time. He can be tortured, which goes against our very own principles. It is that type of behavior that we are fighting, yet somehow it is okay for us to do it.

This is how FEAR & HATE win, and HOW DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM LOSES.
