Get Over This Coalition Bullshit

Comments Off

I mean honestly, Stephen, isn’t it time you stop whining about an imaginery coalition threat by the Liberals, NDP, & Bloc?

Should YOU be focusing on winning the election on your platform, instead of creating nothing but fear? How about, for once in your political life, you stood up and started telling the truth, instead of fabricating nonsense?

It really pisses me off, at how much you spin things. I mean come on, you tried to form a government in 2004, had the Liberals been defeated on their budget. It boggles the mind how it was okay for you to avail yourself of that parliamentary rule, but isn’t okay for anyone else. What made it okay for you, but not anyone else? Is there a special Stephen Harper clause we don’t know about?

What are you so afraid of? Is that IF another party gets in, and examines the books, we are going to be amazed at how crooked your whole administration has been? Will be shocked at the excesses you have allowed, under the guise of being an Economist?

Michael Ignatieff & Jack Layton have all said it, time over time, that they are looking to win this election, with a mandate. What was said in the Manbridge interview was based on conjecture, and was about how the rules are set.  YES, the Governor General can asked another party to try and form a government, if a minority government fails.  It has been that way for eons.

That isn’t about some preceived future coalition threat, it is about reality.

Secondly, you DO have to present a budget, IF you get re-elected. As a minority or not, you still need to present a budget.  And it is obvious to everyone, but YOU, that if you are in a minority position, YOU will have to seek support from the other parties, or be defeated on a Non Confidence motion.

That is reality Stephen Harper, so deal with it.  Either Convince Us to give you a majority, or deal with the reality of forming a minority government. Course, you may NOT get that even, one hopes.

So while you bellyache about the Liberals forming some imaginary coalition, what about you?

What will you do, IF the next government is a Minority, but not with you in charge?  WILL YOU defeat the Government on their budget, if they act like your administration has, all arrogant and smug?  Will you send ANOTHER LETTER to the Governor General, telling him that there are other options, should the Minority Government fail?

This election was caused by your unwillingness to negotiate with the other parties in Parliament. All you had to do, was add a paltry half million dollars to Seniors and you’d have had the NDP support, enough to keep on Governing. So who really forced this election?  YOU DID.

SO STOP YOUR DAMN WHINING & GET ON WITH CAMPAIGNING

Oh wait, that is your campaigning isn’t it, non stop whining and fear mongering. Can’t forget about how you love distorting the truth too, as part of your campaign strategy.

How Much Can You Afford to Pay

Comments Off

Gas prices went up here yesterday, to $1.32 a liter.  The Loonie is at a record high of about 5¢ more than the Yankee buck.

Can you afford it?

Thing to realize is that gas prices, means increased shipping costs and manufacturing costs, for everything. From growing wheat, to raising cattle, to building solar panels.  It all is going to cost more, and the so-called experts expect Gas Prices to only continue to spiral upwards, more.  Gold is at some insane price, as well.

A high Loonie, means that everything we bring in, such as all that cheap crap from China, will also cost us more.  And we do IMPORT a lot of stuff these days.  Last I heard was that over 60% of our consumables, purchases, were Imports.

It also means that what we sell to other countries, just got more expensive too. See we don’t trade on the International Market in the Loonie, we get paid in Yankee Dollars, which is then converted into the Loonie.  So yep, our exports cost more, as we have to raise the price, to compensate for the High Loonie.

Can we say Recession Round Two?

We didn’t learn from the last one, so naturally history is going to keep on repeating itself, until either we self destruct, or learn the lesson.  High Gas Prices do impact every aspect of our life. From food, to clothing, to simply breathing.  Everything now is going to cost us more, and what is our Stevie Boy going to do about it?

  • More Tax Cuts to the Oil Industry?
  • More Corporate Bailouts while Cutting Jobs?

Is this really the type of man we want in charge, for anouther Recession?  He gave out BILLIONS to his corporate buddies, that invested 1/10th of that money back into our infrastructure. They got fat raises, we got pink slips.

Fake Party Phone Calls At All Hours

Comments Off

Ah the joy of an election, filled with dirty tricks.  I have to be old, because I still remember when elections were about issues, not about personalities. The debates dealt with the differences between the various Parties, not about who can give the most sound bites, or lie the most.

Now we have Ontario Residents in key ridings getting crank phone calls, asking them to support the Liberal Party in the upcoming election. The calls, it seems, come late at night, and are from some call center in the USA.

I ain’t no Rocket Scientist, but I don’t see any party phoning its supporters in the middle of the night, do you?   But wait, you have to love how the Conservatives react to the possible claim that it is them.  I mean honestly, can we say devious?

But Conservative spokesman Ryan Sparrow said the party is not involved in any way.

“In fact the only party that has access to Liberal Party lists is the Liberal
Party,” he told CBC’s Dave Seglins. “Are you certain that they are not making the calls?”

[SOURCE - CBC News Report]

Uh, like yeah, the Liberals are going to call their own supporters, risk being caught out, in order to cast aspertions on the Conservatives.  Now, that might be true, if they were the King of Attack Ads, or the Party doing the most negative campaigning, but uh…   sorry that title goes to the Harper Conservatives.

Now Americans are used to this kind of bullshit, but frankly I find it unacceptable. Yet with Harper taking so many cues from how the Republicans won in the USA, it does make me think they are the one’s behind this campaign.  I hope that Elections Canada can find out, because I’d love to know.

Course, IF the Harper Conservatives win, we can forget about ever finding out the truth. Least if they get a Majority that is.  I mean look at the last election, at how it took until now for Elections Canada to be able to get enough facts from the Conservatives to find them in violation of the Election Act.

Did You Forget About That One Canada?

It is a classic case of why no one should be willing to support the Harper Regime. I mean they fudged the book keeping on election advertising, and it took this long before Elections Canada could get enough details, to rule on the mis-use of public matching funds. It goes to show you, to what lengths the Harper Gang go to, in order to win, even a minority.

Media Following the Harper Worry about a Coalition?

Comments Off

Once again, that bugaboo  COALITION is cropping up. This time in an interview with Peter Mansbridge & Jack Layton.  Harper continues to natter away that if he gets a minority government, that the Liberals, NDP, & Bloc will join forces and defeat him, and form a coalition government.

Hey I got the solution, instead of voting for the Conservatives, VOTE FOR THE OTHER PARTIES INSTEAD.   That way, he not only doesn’t get a Minority Government, but Canada might actually get a decent Government, that will do the will of the people, not the will of Big Corporations.

I mean how low can this guy get?

To make such a suggestion, to create a sense of fear among his party faithful who might stay home, out of disgust with his antics, so they will reluctantly come out and vote for him, is well, pathetic. Honestly, either you have the policies that we want, or you don’t. Stop trying to frighten everyone with your mindless talk about separation, about coalition.  Stop the lies in your attack ads, and show some respect for those who disagree with you.

In other words, Stephen Harper,  BE A MAN!

What is galling is how the Media Gurus are all helping to push that fear. I mean honestly, has Ignatieff, Layton, or Duceppe mentioned forming a coalition if Harper was “God Forbid” get another shot at the job. I mean come on here folks, they have a vested interest in seeing Harper get re-elected.

Which other party is willing to lower the standard for truth in media advertising but Harper? Like that should boost their ad revenues, right?

The media doesn’t want a Government elected by people, because gee, they might actually have to start reporting news, instead of conjecture, spin, and out right lies.  Maybe they might actually have to report all of the news, not just what is of benefit to their advertisers?

And you know, what happens after, happens. It isn’t like Stephen Harper was so against forming a coalition, when it suited his purposes. One more reason why he should be kicked out of office.  How can a coalition be bad when it involves the Liberals, NDP, & Bloc, but is not really a coalition, or bad, if it involved HIM, the NDP, & the Bloc?

Talk about your Double Standards… something he is rapidly becoming famous for.

A Curse on Attack Ads & Those Who Use Them

Comments Off

Two weeks to go until a choice is made, but you just know that we are going to be inundated by those Attack Ads.  The Harper Conservatives & Ignatieff Liberals have them, and I think I even heard where the NDP has one or two playing as well.

In some ways, you can’t really blame either the Liberals or the NDP for joining in, after all, the Harper Conservatives have had a monopoly on using them, for nearly five years now.

Problem with these ads, is that they simply aren’t true. They are devoid of honesty, and instead are merely cruel methods to hurt another person.  This is why I cannot support any Conservative Party, that has the likes of Stephen Harper in control.

People matter, and I remember Justin Trudeau’s eulogy for his father, where he recounted a story about him as a young man. He said his father scolded him, for making a disparaging remark about then Conservative leader Joe Clark.  He told him, you can disagree on ideology, and attack that differences but you do not make it personal.

Too bad no one told Stephen Harper that.

This style of politics confuses the real issues. I mean we have Harper claiming Ignatieff is going to raise taxes and keep on raising them. We have Ignatieff countering with Harper saying he opposes our National Health system.    What is the problem, is there is enough truth in both statements, to warrant  concern.  However it is how they deliver the messages that upsets me.

The truth is, that no responsible leader can take raising taxes off the table.  Remember what happened to George Bush and his famous  ‘read my lips’ speech?  Economies change, so to me, all Harper’s attack ads is doing is re-enforcing my disgust at him & his party.

Now Ignatieff’s Health ads, have more truth in them, but not enough. I mean come on here, part truths still isn’t the truth. Yes Harper has made numerous speeches about supporting private health care, along with National Health. He has indeed supported making Private Health available, at the risk of lowering the standard of care under National Health.

So why use a quote he didn’t make?  I mean he has given tons of quotes that can be used, so why use one attributed to someone else? Cause it sounds better?

Now the Liberals are going to adjust that ad, which in my mind, gives them a ½ point. I mean at least they recognize the mistake, and are correcting it, after a bit of tail twisting. Something YOU DO NOT SEE the Harper Conservatives doing.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. At least be man enough to acknowledge it, and then correct it.  The Ignatieff Liberals have done that.   We’ve been waiting for the Harper Conservatives to do that, for nearly Five Long Years now.  And there is no ray of hope in the foreseeable future.
