Who Picked Baird, Harper or the Americans?

Have to luv those wiki leaks. I mean now American Diplomats were impressed by John Baird? ( our new Foreign Affairs Minister )   Gawd that isn’t something I’d want in my resume, having US Diplomats impressed by me.  Certainly won’t help our reputation with other countries, who already consider us merely an  appendage to the United States foreign policy establishment.

Buy the way, he was Environment Minister, and did such a great job of boot licking the Mining Companies, no wonder US Diplomats were impressed by him. After all, nothing makes a US Diplomat smile, than someone who knows his place, and listens obediently to his Corporate Masters.   Guess that is also why they just adore our Stevie Boy.

Course why wouldn’t Republican drones be impressed by a hack, who mouths whatever line he’s told to spew? I mean this guy did nothing during the campaign but SPIN all the lies, into bigger whoppers, than his boss did.  Like the one about how the final version of the AG’s report on the G8/G20 misuse of funds, was changed, but gee, he wouldn’t tell us what was in it, just that he’d seen a later version.

Course we are still waiting for that one, wonder if it’ll pop up sooner or later?

You have to wonder at those who Voted Conservative on May 2.  Did they imagine the kind of blatant hypocrisy a Harper Majority would exhibit? Did they think he’d somehow tone down his misrepresentations, his lies, his deceit?

Not even two weeks and already he’s making Senate Appointments of failed party candidates, announcing the end of stability for the Wheat & Barley industry, and appointing hacks like Baird.   Makes you wonder, what is next week going to bring?

Defeated By Voters, Elected by Harper

I hope all of those who voted for Stephen Harper are starting to realize what an enormous screw up they did.  Giving this egomaniac a Majority Government has taken the breaks off, and now we are going to have four years of utter contempt, for our wishes, for our way of life.

Starting with his Appointment of THREE DEFEATED CANDIDATES to the SENATE. ( see the story from CBC News here )

A Senate he routinely calls cumbersome, outmoded, out dated, useless.  Now he has stacked it with not worthy representatives, but with failed Conservative Candidates. Two in fact were Senators before the election, had agreed to step down at the election and run for Parliament.  Both got their asses whipped, so good old boy Stevie, well, he just ups and re-appoints them to the Senate.

Considering that the PEOPLE didn’t like those two as representatives for them, what now makes them credible, for the Senate?  Course that also applies to his defeated Cabinet Minister who now gets a seat in the Senate.

Oh, it gets better, but I’ll save that for another post.  But the dismantling of this Country is already in full swing, thanks to all those people who bought into Harper’s lies, attack ads, and fear mongering.

Now WE ALL will pay for that.

Jack’s Massage Extravaganza

So the latest bullshit, courtesy of the Harper War Machine, is about Jack Layton visiting a massage parlour in 1996.

Yeah, 1996.

Like how desperate can you get, to try and stay as Prime Minister, when you gotta dredge up such bullshit?  So the guy went to a massage parlour, after a workout?  Guess that is something our Stevie Boy wouldn’t do, given how he doesn’t know what it means to actually work out.

But what kind of nonsense is it anyway? I mean the Police questioned him because the place was under suspicion of being a whore house.  So, what, people haven’t walked into a massage parlour before, not knowing it had ‘extras’?

I don’t know who will win tomorrow’s election, I am praying hard it isn’t Harper, because frankly, the longer this man stays in power, the worse this country will become. Already in just five short years, our political process has deteriated to name calling, to wild mud slinging, that just isn’t… well Canadian.

Sure, all parties do it, to a point, but in order to fight fire with fire, their hands get dirty too, because we seem to allow it. WE, the people actually fall prey to the likes of the Harper’s of this world, instead of standing firm in our beliefs, in our ethics.

I hope, that when it comes time to get off our fat asses, and actually go VOTE, that we’ll realize that this is a vote not just about which party sounds best, but a clear choice between FEAR & DICTATORSHIP  versus  COMPASSION & DEMOCRACY.

Any vote for the Harper Conservatives, is a vote for fear, for dictatorship, for greed, and above all else, for selfishness.

Any vote for ANY OF THE OTHER PARTIES, is a REAL VOTE for Democracy, for some compassion in our Government Policies.  IT IS A VOTE FOR PEOPLE NOT BUSINESS.

And that is sad, that our Political system has evolved to that kind of choice. It wasn’t always that way, least not in memory. I truly do pray, that we see the truth, and so come Monday, we clearly show our disgust at Lies, at Deceit, at Greed, at Fear.

I Trust What Harper Says…

or so someone told me today.

I suppose that is what surprises me, more than the attack ads.  I mean, what is there to trust, when a man for the last five years has lied repeatidly  LIED to us.  Do people really not see the lies?

I mean okay, he says we can’t afford the Liberal Programs/Plan, and can’t even begin to consider the NDP program/plans.   Yet, can we afford his programs, his plans?

This is the man who told us in 2004, that he would give us an accountable, transparent government.   So where is his copy of the Auditor General’s report on the G8/G20 conference?   Hasn’t been released now, has it?

What about the deal to buy all those F-35 Fighter Jets.  He says it will be $75 Million a pop, yet won’t release the letter of intent.  Even the US Congress is investigating the cost of these jets, reviewing their own purchase agreement, based on how much EXTRA they are going to cost.  The Only One who isn’t reviewing the purchase, who isn’t worried about it, is Stephen Harper & His Conservatives.

Like how does that even make him a true Conservative?

He tells us that we need super sized prisons, and a three strike your out law, because of the high crime rates.  Yet even he can’t discount, that in reality CRIME IS DOWN.  So just why do we need those mega prisons?  Because he says we do?

How about in 2008, when he told us during an election, that our economy was bullet proof from a world recession.  Yet every single other economist in the world, said he was wrong. But hey, he knew better and in a few short weeks, we were getting a multi billion dollar deficit.  Yet, not even a few weeks had passed, from when he told us we’d have a surplus.  How does that make his word trustworthy?

Think about this. IF you lied to your boss, to his shareholders,  under oath too, would you expect jail time?  Least you could hope for would be to be fired, right? So how come his own Minister Oda is not only praised by him, but defended, and is still a candidate?  How is that worthy of trust?

Consider too, how his first major speech to Parliament, was spoken by someone else, but he didn’t know that.

Consider how he has taken credit for the health care increases, that were actually achieved by the Liberal Government before his.

Consider too, how he claimed that the Auditor General praised his government for its fiscal prudence in hosting the G8 Conference, that in truth, was praise for the Liberal Government, years earlier.  While his own management of the public purse, for a similar conference, is under investigation for MIS-USE of our money.

And the list isn’t even close to being finished.  How can he be trusted, I really would like to know?  Look at his own promises, of tax cuts, that have big strings attached to them. Things like cutting $11 Billion from the budget, but he won’t say where those cuts will come from?  Just trust him?

Consider his attack ads, about the Coalition between the NDP & the Bloc, about the ones about Ignatieff & the NDP, Bloc.   He himself tried to form a coalition in 2004, so how come it was okay for him, but not for Layton or Ignatieff?

Trust a man who has a double standard? Really? That isn’t worthy of my trust, nor my vote. How can it be worthy of your vote on Monday?

HONESTLY, HOW CAN YOU TRUST A MAN WHO HAS LIED SO MUCH?

A Curse on Attack Ads & Those Who Use Them

Two weeks to go until a choice is made, but you just know that we are going to be inundated by those Attack Ads.  The Harper Conservatives & Ignatieff Liberals have them, and I think I even heard where the NDP has one or two playing as well.

In some ways, you can’t really blame either the Liberals or the NDP for joining in, after all, the Harper Conservatives have had a monopoly on using them, for nearly five years now.

Problem with these ads, is that they simply aren’t true. They are devoid of honesty, and instead are merely cruel methods to hurt another person.  This is why I cannot support any Conservative Party, that has the likes of Stephen Harper in control.

People matter, and I remember Justin Trudeau’s eulogy for his father, where he recounted a story about him as a young man. He said his father scolded him, for making a disparaging remark about then Conservative leader Joe Clark.  He told him, you can disagree on ideology, and attack that differences but you do not make it personal.

Too bad no one told Stephen Harper that.

This style of politics confuses the real issues. I mean we have Harper claiming Ignatieff is going to raise taxes and keep on raising them. We have Ignatieff countering with Harper saying he opposes our National Health system.    What is the problem, is there is enough truth in both statements, to warrant  concern.  However it is how they deliver the messages that upsets me.

The truth is, that no responsible leader can take raising taxes off the table.  Remember what happened to George Bush and his famous  ‘read my lips’ speech?  Economies change, so to me, all Harper’s attack ads is doing is re-enforcing my disgust at him & his party.

Now Ignatieff’s Health ads, have more truth in them, but not enough. I mean come on here, part truths still isn’t the truth. Yes Harper has made numerous speeches about supporting private health care, along with National Health. He has indeed supported making Private Health available, at the risk of lowering the standard of care under National Health.

So why use a quote he didn’t make?  I mean he has given tons of quotes that can be used, so why use one attributed to someone else? Cause it sounds better?

Now the Liberals are going to adjust that ad, which in my mind, gives them a ½ point. I mean at least they recognize the mistake, and are correcting it, after a bit of tail twisting. Something YOU DO NOT SEE the Harper Conservatives doing.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. At least be man enough to acknowledge it, and then correct it.  The Ignatieff Liberals have done that.   We’ve been waiting for the Harper Conservatives to do that, for nearly Five Long Years now.  And there is no ray of hope in the foreseeable future.
